Overview
The Mongrel 545030 is a heavy-duty elastic-sided (pull-on) safety boot in premium brown oil-kip full-grain leather, built for trades that put their boots through punishment. It combines a 200J steel toe cap and a moulded PU scuff cap with a genuine Vibram® rubber outsole rated to 300°C, making it one of the toughest heat-, oil- and acid-resistant work boots you can buy. Proudly made in Australia by Mongrel Boots.
Because the Vibram® outsole resists heat to 300°C and the boot is antistatic with SRC slip resistance, the 545030 is a favourite among electricians, welders, metal workers and fabricators — anyone working around heat, sparks and demanding underfoot conditions. The slip-on elastic-sided design means no laces to catch or melt, so you pull them on and get to work.
Inside, Mongrel’s AirZone® Comfort System and OrthoTec® Poron® footbed with anatomical arch support and shock-absorbing heel cushioning keep you comfortable and reduce fatigue across a long shift, while a temperature-regulating, fully-lined interior and a premium polyurethane cushion midsole add all-day support. Coats Nylbond® stitching and a one-piece blocked vamp mean these boots are made to last.

Who it’s for
The 545030 is built for heavy-duty and high-heat trades: electricians, welders, fabricators, metal workers, foundry and engineering work, as well as general construction, farming and heavy industry where a tough, slip-on boot is needed. If you want the protection of a steel toe and the convenience of a pull-on dealer boot — without compromising on a serious outsole — this is the boot.
Sizing & fit
Mongrel boots are generally true to size in UK sizing, with half sizes available from 6.5 to 10.5 which are wider, not longer. If you’re between sizes or wear thicker work socks, we’d suggest going up to the next half size. Not sure? Get in touch and we’ll help you find the right fit, and we offer free exchanges if the size isn’t right.

FAQs
What does the Mongrel 545030 outsole protect against?
It uses a genuine Vibram® rubber outsole that is heat resistant up to 300°C and resistant to oil and acid, with SRC slip resistance for grip on demanding surfaces. That combination is why it’s popular with electricians, welders and metal workers.
Is the Mongrel 545030 a safety boot?
Yes. It has a 200J steel toe cap and is certified to AS 2210.3:2019 and ISO 20345:2011 (MOD), plus ASTM F2413. It also features a moulded PU scuff cap to protect the toe area and extend the life of the boot.
Are these boots heat resistant enough for welding and hot work?
The Vibram® outsole is rated to 300°C, which is why the 545030 is a popular choice for welding, fabrication and metalwork. As with any safety footwear, always match your PPE to your specific workplace risk assessment.
Do elastic-sided (dealer) boots stay on well?
Yes. The elastic gusset on each side flexes to grip your foot and ankle, so the boot stays secure while still being quick to pull on and off. With no laces, there’s nothing to come undone, snag or catch — a real advantage around machinery and hot work.
Are Mongrel boots true to size?
Mongrel boots generally fit true to size in UK sizing, and this style is available in half sizes from 6.5 to 10.5. If you’re between sizes or wear thick socks, size up to the next half size. We offer free exchanges if the fit isn’t right. Half Sizes are wider, not longer.
Where are Mongrel boots made?
Mongrel Boots are proudly made in Australia and have been since 1930. The 545030 is built with premium full-grain leather, a Vibram® outsole and Coats Nylbond® stitching for long-lasting durability.
