Overview
The Hard Yakka 3056 Zip Sided in Wheat is a lightweight, metal-free composite safety boot — one of Hard Yakka’s best-sellers, and excellent value at £85.99. It combines a composite toe cap with a Wellmax® puncture-resistant plate, so the whole boot is non-metallic: lighter underfoot, and it won’t trigger metal detectors at airports or secure sites. A water-resistant leather upper, 300°C heat-resistant outsole and easy-access side zip round out a genuinely capable everyday work boot.
Comfort is built in: a shock-absorbing Phylon midsole for energy rebound, a lightweight memory-foam and PU footbed with ERP Pod comfort technology, and a flexible neoprene ‘hoodie’ at the mouth of the boot that both holds the zip and stops ankle rub. A 10-gauge YKK coil side zip means easy on and off, and AEGIS® anti-microbial odour control keeps things fresher through a long shift. REPREVE® recycled lining and GRS-certified recycled components make it a more sustainable choice too.
It carries an S1P FO HRO SRC rating — so you get composite-toe and puncture-plate protection with a slip-resistant, 300°C, fuel/oil-resistant outsole.

Who it’s for
The 3056 is ideal for light industrial, warehousing, transport, construction and general trade. The metal-free composite toe and puncture plate make it a strong pick for airport and secure-site staff, electricians and anyone passing through metal detectors, while the light weight and side zip suit anyone on their feet all day. Note the upper is water-resistant rather than waterproof — if you need a genuinely waterproof boot, see the 3056 Waterproof S7, which adds a sealed membrane.
Sizing & fit
The 3056 fits true to size — order your normal size. Available in UK 7–14, including a 10.5 half size. If you’re between sizes or wear thick socks, size up. If the fit isn’t right, we offer free exchanges.
Why buy from BIG Boots UK?
We’re a small, family-run business that specialises in Australian work boots — we know the brands inside out and only stock boots we’d wear on our own feet. Originally from Australia ourselves, we’re proud to bring Hard Yakka’s hard-wearing, value-driven boots to UK tradespeople. Every pair is genuine, fully warranted, and backed by people who actually use them.
FAQs
Is the 3056 fully metal-free?
Yes. It has a composite toe cap and a Wellmax® composite puncture-resistant plate — no metal in the protective components. That makes it lighter than a steel-toe, steel-midsole boot, and means it won’t set off metal detectors at airports or secure sites.
What does the S1P rating mean?
S1P under EN ISO 20345 means a composite (or steel) toe cap, a puncture-resistant midsole, antistatic protection, an energy-absorbing heel and a fuel/oil-resistant outsole. The full marking here is S1P FO HRO SRC, which also confirms a slip-resistant (SRC, the highest standard grade) and 300°C heat-resistant outsole. Note S1P has a water-resistant upper rather than a waterproof one.
Is the 3056 waterproof?
Not this version — the standard 3056 has a water-resistant leather upper, which handles splashes and damp but isn’t a sealed waterproof construction. If you need genuinely waterproof boots, the 3056 Waterproof S7 adds a Cosmo HBR waterproof membrane and an S7S rating.
Why is the outsole rated to 300°C?
The outsole carries an HRO (heat-resistant outsole) rating, tested for brief contact with hot surfaces up to 300°C — suitable for hotter environments as well as general site work. This is contact-heat resistance for the sole, not a rating for the whole boot.

Do you ship to Europe and Ireland?
Unfortunately not, we do ship to Northern Ireland however due to brexit and the complications with shipping and then duties costs, we find it better for customers to try and find a local supplier as it will save you money on duties.
