Overview
The Hard Yakka Outback is a full S3-rated steel toe dealer boot that works as hard as you do — and moves easily from the site to the weekend. It’s the proper safety boot in Hard Yakka’s dealer range: a rugged, elastic-sided pull-on in premium oiled full-grain leather, built for everyday wear and hard work alike, and available in Brown and Light Tan. At £84.99 it’s outstanding value for a genuine S3 boot.
It pulls on and off in seconds thanks to twin elastic gores and double extra-long pull loops — no laces, no zip — and a Kickguard toe protector shields the front of the boot from the daily knock-about. Underfoot, a recycled TPU outsole, PU midsole and a lightweight memory-foam footbed keep you comfortable through a long shift, while a REPREVE® recycled lining (spun from recycled plastic bottles) adds a greener touch.
Certified to the current EN ISO 20345:2022 standard with an S3L SR FO rating and an SRC slip-resistant outsole, it’s approved for site work right across the UK.

Who it’s for
The Outback suits anyone wanting the easy-on comfort of a dealer boot with full S3 protection: construction, groundwork, farming, warehousing and general trade — and it looks good enough to keep wearing off the clock. Because it’s S3 (with a penetration-resistant midsole and water-penetration-resistant upper), it’s suitable for standard building-site work, unlike lighter S1 dealer boots such as the Banjo.
Sizing & fit
The Outback runs true to size, but Hard Yakka advise that if you’re a half size, order up to the next full size. Available in UK 4–13 including 6.5 and 10.5 half sizes, in Brown and Light Tan. If the fit isn’t right, we offer free exchanges.
Why buy from BIG Boots UK?
We’ve sold only Australian workwear and boot brands in the UK for years, and before moving to the UK, Ryan — the owner of BIG Boots UK — worked in the trades in Melbourne, closely with these brands, so he knows them like the back of his hand. We’re a small, family-run business that only stocks boots we’d wear on our own feet. Every pair is genuine, fully warranted, and backed by people who actually use them.
FAQs
What does the S3L rating mean?
S3L is the S3 rating under the newer EN ISO 20345:2022 standard. It gives you a 200J steel toe cap, a penetration-resistant midsole, a water-penetration-resistant upper, antistatic protection and an energy-absorbing heel. The full marking here is S3L SR FO, with an SRC slip-resistant, fuel- and oil-resistant outsole — so it’s approved for standard UK site work.
What’s the difference between the Outback and the Brumby?
They’re essentially the same boot — the Outback has a steel toe cap and full S3 safety rating, while the Brumby is the non-safety version without the steel toe. Choose the Outback if you need a safety boot for site work, or the Brumby if you just want the comfort and style for everyday wear.
Is the Outback a good alternative to Redback boots?
Many customers come to the Outback wanting a comfortable Australian elastic-sided dealer boot at a sensible price. It’s a genuine S3 steel-toe safety boot in the classic pull-on style, so if you like that style and want strong value with full site protection, it’s well worth considering.
What is a dealer boot?
A dealer boot (or Chelsea work boot) is a pull-on, elastic-sided boot with no laces and no zip. Stretchy gussets on each side let you pull it on and off easily while keeping it secure — the Outback adds a steel toe and full S3 protection to that classic design.

Do you ship to Europe and Ireland?
Unfortunately not, we do ship to Northern Ireland however due to brexit and the complications with shipping and then duties costs, we find it better for customers to try and find a local supplier as it will save you money on duties.
Northern Ireland customers do not have to pay duties as you’re part of the United Kingdom and postage is the same as the mainland.
